My Type Of Photography

This image best exemplifies the type of photography I love.  The vibrant colors draw me in immediately.  The short depth of field allows for a sense of mystery and intrigue that enables the background to appear reminiscent of a painting.  The macro view of the photograph allows the viewer to see a moment they would not normally be able to see and would most likely overlook during the course of their everyday life.
Macro shots, short depth of field, and vibrant colors are all things that I find visually interesting.  If I could do any type of photography long-term, it would be something along these lines.  Imagery like this, however, doesn’t really fit into my knowledge of what the commercial world is looking for.  With that in mind, I’m still trying to figure out my place in the photography world.
I love the cool tones in this image.  The bokeh in the background offers a nice repetition of shape to the droplet on the flower, which is the main focal point of the image.

The soft washes of color in the background replicate the colors of the flower nicely in this image.

The complimentary colors in this image add pop.  I love the reflection in the droplet.

I love how the soft focus and shallow depth of field lend to the appearance of the image being a painting instead of a photograph.

While not quite complimentary color, the colors still work very well together to create a pop of color that interests the viewer.

I love the short depth of field and soft background.  Once again, the color are harmonious together.

The replication of shape in the softened background adds visual interest, and the simplicity of palette is beautiful.

Once again, the simplicity of palette and use of complimentary colors make the image really stand out.

I really love the vibrant hue of the flower against the nearly colorless background.

All of these images were created by Joakim Kraemer and can be found on his website:  http://joakimk.net/ .
